Providing a barter platform for the nearby community and building connections with each other.

Project Context
Creating an APP that provides a platform for local community barter. Users can list their items for barter, allowing them to propose and engage in item-for-item trades with others; other than that, users can participate in the barter events, building connections with other users.
My Contributions
Full UX process from research to final high fidelity designs.
Design Process
After setting up my task flow and completing my research, I began wireframing the website's layout, focusing on content that aligns with both business and user objectives.
Audience
According to the product positioning, I summarized 6 characteristics of target audience.

Pain Point

I'm looking to refresh my home's decoration with authentic antiques, but my budget is tight.
I live away from crowded areas, and really need to barter with people I am familiar with.
I really enjoy bartering but the safety during meetups is important to me.
I dislike when listings suggest a monetary value for barter items.
Oh, this item reminds me of my childhood, I used to play it with my sister!

Persona
The persona was created through the pain points that the target users may have during bartering.

User Flow
Here are 5 main steps in the flow during the navigation process of a bartering app, presenting the most important or useful functions of the app, while following the conventions.

Design System
Design Systems are essential in the design process because they promote visual consistency, enhancing the user experience. Before moving on to the high-fidelity design, I set up a colour palette and systems for shadows, typography, and various website components. This led to a clean and streamlined final design that is easy for users to navigate.
Typography System
I chose Roboto as the font, since it is a popular for its combination of geometric shapes and friendly open curves. It is also highly legible in various sizes and on different devices, which makes it a versatile option for user interface design.

Colour Palette
The colour palette follows an analogous-complementary colour scheme. The earth tones (Bone, Olive, Ink green, Dark coffee) are analogous, creating a visually appealing and harmonious look as they are close to each other on the colour wheel.
The neutrals (White, Greys, and Black) complement these by providing balance and contrast without competing for attention. Finally, the semantic colorus (Reds and Yellows) serve as complementary accents that can be used to highlight important elements and call-to-actions within the app.

Content Critique
During the design process, my peers conducted a review of four representative content design pages, offering valuable insights that enriched my approach to refining and enhancing the interface design.

The primary areas identified for further refinement in my pages include:
-
Consistency
-
Recognition
-
Effectiveness
